The Writivate Pre-Apprenticeship
Your on-ramp to a career in the life sciences. This program builds the foundation you need to pursue Registered Apprenticeships, internships, and entry-level roles in medical and regulatory writing, scientific communication, quality, compliance, and related fields.
It focuses on workforce readiness: the scientific, regulatory, professional, and technology skills employers expect from day one in a regulated environment.

Who it's for
The pre-apprenticeship is built for people who have the aptitude for life-sciences work but not yet the pathway, including:
- Career changers and people entering the life sciences workforce for the first time
- First-generation professionals and returning workers
- Veterans transitioning to civilian careers
- Anyone who is new to regulated (GxP) work environments and wants a strong foundation
You don't need prior experience in a regulated environment. The program is designed to close exactly that gap.
What you'll learn
The program is organized into seven competency areas, plus a capstone that brings everything together.

Curriculum content and delivery details may be refined based on employer feedback, learner needs, and Division of Apprentice Standards guidance.
How the program flows
The curriculum moves you from broad industry awareness to applied, job-ready skills in four phases:
- Industry and scientific foundations. Understand the life-sciences landscape and the science behind the work.
- Regulatory, quality, and workplace readiness. Learn how regulated, quality-driven workplaces operate and what they expect of you.
- Technology, AI, and procedural fluency. Build digital and responsible AI skills, and practice following controlled procedures.
- Career navigation, capstone, and transition planning. Bring it all together and map your next step.
Career navigation isn't saved for the end. It's woven through the whole program. And AI literacy is both its own topic and a skill you'll practice in scientific communication, SOP interpretation, and quality scenarios.
Capstone and Certificate of Completion
Your capstone is a practical portfolio that shows employers what you can do. Sample deliverables include:
- A career pathway analysis
- A scientific information summary
- An SOP interpretation exercise
- A quality and compliance case study
- An AI-assisted communication assignment, with your critical review of the AI output
- A personal workforce development plan
To complete the program, participants:
- Complete at least 80% of required instructional activities
- Average 70% or higher on knowledge assessments and competency checks
- Complete the required practical exercises in each competency area
- Demonstrate professionalism, participation, communication, and collaboration
- Submit a CV or professional profile, a career action plan, the capstone project, and a reflection on career goals
Participants who meet all requirements may earn a Writivate Certificate of Completion.

- Entry-level roles in medical and regulatory writing, scientific communication, quality, compliance, clinical research, and related fields
- Continuing education and professional credentials
Completing the program prepares you to pursue these opportunities but does not guarantee admission to an apprenticeship, employment, or any specific outcome.

How much does the program cost?
Pricing for the first cohort hasn't been announced yet. Interest-list members will hear about cost, and any available funding or support, before anyone else.
When does the first cohort start?
We're preparing our first cohort now. Join the interest list and we'll email you as soon as dates are set.
Is it online or in person?
The program is designed to be modular and to support more than one delivery format. We'll share the format for the first cohort when enrollment opens.
Who is eligible?
The program is designed for people entering or transitioning into the life-sciences workforce, including those with no prior experience in regulated environments. Specific eligibility requirements will be shared when enrollment opens.
Is this a Registered Apprenticeship?
No. It's a pre-apprenticeship: a readiness program that prepares you to pursue Registered Apprenticeships and other workforce pathways. Writivate is working with the Massachusetts Division of Apprentice Standards on next steps for the program.
Do I need experience with AI?
No. You'll learn what AI is, what it can and can't do, and how to use it responsibly, with human judgment and verification at the center. Read about our approach to responsible AI.
